A Practical Tool Holder Setup Checklist

Review the interface, clamping range, reach and condition before selecting a holder.

Confirm the machine interface

Verify the spindle interface and holder specification against the machine documentation. Do not select a holder from appearance alone.

Match the cutting tool shank

Check the shank diameter, clamping range and compatible collet or clamping system. Follow the holder manufacturer’s assembly and tightening instructions.

Review reach and clearance

Check gauge length and the full assembly against fixtures, workholding and the part. Use the shortest practical assembly that provides the required clearance.

Inspect and document

Inspect contact surfaces and components for contamination or damage. Record the holder and cutting tool references, required reach and application when requesting support.

Discuss your application

Contact CutNexo with your tooling requirements, or browse our product families.

Check the ER series and marked bore

Identify the holder series before selecting a collet. Keep collet outer dimensions and the tool shank diameter separate. Use the ER collet sizes and dimensions guide to prepare a more precise inquiry.
